Agents & Publishers
Our Consultancy has a good relationship with agents and publishers around
the UK.
However, the trend in publishing is notoriously conservative and
commercial at the moment. There are more good books being written than
are finding a market. Publishers and agents are looking for moneyspinners
- work that is both well-written and has a strong plot. Only one per
cent of submissions (agents and publishers receive around 200 manuscripts
per week) make it past the slush pile.
As independent scouts, we are not
tied to any one literary agency or publishing house. This means we are
free to find the right agent or publisher to match your needs. We
are always on the look-out for new talent, and take great pride when
our clients get their work into print. Where work is of a publishable
standard, and if you are agreeable, we will recommend manuscripts to
agents and publishers on your behalf.
Where
we do not feel able to represent your work, we may be able to suggest
independent publishers or small presses for you to approach yourself. We
will not make unrealistic and irresponsible suggestions which would be
a waste of publishers' and agents' time.
We will never recommend
vanity publishing as a means of getting into print - although self-publishing
is increasingly becoming an acceptable and viable option.

I feel like I’ve won the Lottery...”
