Submission of Manuscripts

• No initial letter or phone call is necessary.
   
• Manuscripts should be submitted as hard copy, typed in 12 point, and double-spaced on single-sided A4 paper. Include your name, address, and ensure pages are numbered. Please include a word count.
   
• Enclose a cheque with your manuscript made payable to Oxford Literary Consultancy.  Please note that fees will be increased for manuscripts that are sent to us with 1.5-spacing or a 11 point typeface.
   
• Include a brief covering letter. This should detail any specific concerns you may have about your manuscript (eg. unbelievable characters or over-complex plot) and a little about you.
   
• We recommend sending manuscripts by recorded delivery rather than first class post.
   
• Enclose an appropriate stamped addressed Jiffy Bag for return of your manuscript and assessment. As our readers' reports can be up to 10 pages long, please remember to add an additional 40p to the original cost of your postage.
  
  Please note that we are unable to return manuscripts or assessments before we receive a stamped addressed envelope.
   
• Our fast-track service ensures feedback within 7-14 days. Please contact us to discuss availability of this service.
   
• We are willing to accept short manuscripts via email. However, print-out costs will be charged at 10p/page and an accompanying cheque must be sent within 7 working days. We will also require an s.a.e. for return of your manuscript and report.

• Unfortunately, we cannot accept work sent on disk.

• We will be unable to read manuscripts without the correct fee.
   
• We regret that manuscripts submitted without cheques will incur an additional £15 administration charge due to the time-consuming nature of chasing late payments.
   
• Written assessments of manuscripts vary in length as follows: 2 to 4 pages for short stories; 5 to 7 pages for a synopsis and sample chapters; 8 to 10 pages for entire manuscripts.
