Having started the year as an unpublished writer with not much more than the germ of an idea for a children's book, I now have a finished book, an agent and at least one interested publisher - all thanks to the Oxford Literary Consultancy.  I genuinely could not have got this far without the advice and support I've received.  The Consultancy has a great deal of expertise and knows its business very well, and I'd recommend its services to any new writers who really want to know where they stand.

Sarah Loving, children’s author, ‘Too Gross, Too True’.

With The Oxford Literary Consultancy's support I've now found a literary agent to represent me, and I'm certain none of this would have been achieved without their support, and some well-considered advice.

The Oxford Literary Consultancy is very professional, but it's also friendly and easily approachable. I can't imagine that I'll ever submit a book to my agent until I've run it past Stephanie Hale and her team.

John Kitchen, author of TXT

The Oxford Literary Consultancy has provided me with thorough, and wholly professional service, with excellent advice on all aspects of writing and marketing.

Katharine Nicholas, author of  short stories broadcast on BBC Radio 4, and of 2 novels, including ‘The Philanderer's Wife’.

The ideas you put forward and your encouragement have meant that I have enjoyed a year I would never have considered possible. I entered the Solihull Slam (performance poetry) last October/November and though being knocked out in the first round, was spotted by the Birmingham Poet Laureate who asked me to enter his Six of The Best monthly slam sessions in Birmingham to discover new talent.

Maggie Doyle, performance poet.

The reader offered thorough, detailed, candid and well-informed feedback about my manuscript.  She had engaged with my material carefully and was clearly very well-informed about the publishing industry.  Her suggestions for improvements seemed very well-judged and I intend to implement nearly all of them.  I would happily use this consultancy again and would recommend it to other writers.

Dr Sarah Brown, author of the Jane Austen sequel ‘Hetta’.

Simply invaluable. Your constructive criticism has allowed me to improve the weaker aspects of my work. Your encouragement has made it possible for me to finish my first novel, and I feel enthusiastic about it. As well as your high professionalism, I found that your human touch made a difference. Both helped me gain confidence in my writing.

Martina Munzittu, author of ‘A Deal with a Stranger’.

You often hear it said that writing is something that cannot be taught, that it is some sort of innate gift that you either have or don't have.  I couldn't agree less with this, simply because writing is a much as profession with all its rules and conventions, like any other profession.
I also feel that you can offer what other academic courses or weekend courses in country houses usually do not offer, namely expert one-to-one advice based on your own work.  There is also the crucial moral support you give when going through the agonising process of trying to find an agent or publisher.

Gordon Lowe, author of ‘The Matfield Murders’.

I found your consultancy helped enormously by steering my synopsis writing into the right channel. At least I now get asked to submit opening chapters on a regular basis.

Ray Murray, author of ‘Endgame’.

As a new writer you may feel confused or perhaps lost in the tough publishing industry. Hale and her team can suggest the right direction for you - with objective, serious and professional advice.

Gregory Binihakis, non-fiction author, Crete.
